Soldiers of Creation workshops are geared towards an alternative method of healing. We invite survivors of sexual assault who are either on a waitlist for clinical treatment, want to try another option, meet others in their community or Allies that want to come out support, and learn something new that they can then apply to their own cause or other areas they are healing in. We are open to everyone.

On Saturday, October 13th we partnered up with the Founder of Framewrk Fitness Studio Josephine, for a Wellness Workshop.

“Framewrk is a movement studio in Toronto’s Queen East neighbourhood where we use creative, challenging and often unique techniques to help clients connect to their bodies in new ways, helping them grow both mentally and physically. Our community is open and welcoming and we try to provide a safe, non-judgemental place for people to explore new fitness techniques and support each other. We strongly believe in the mind-body connection and that we can improve our lives and communities by strengthening the body, which is really the framework of every experience we have.”

The workshop consisted of a fitness class followed by an open discussion. We started the first half of the class with a full-body intense workout and it was great because it catered to both beginners and intermediate levels of fitness.

Josephine was great - she was high energy and positive throughout the whole class, full of great techniques and encouraging words.

The second half of the class we used a tool Josephine walked us through called Somatic Therapy.

Somatic therapy is a holistic therapy that studies the relationship between the mind and body in regard to psychological past. This alternative method of therapy is aimed at relieving the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental and physical trauma-related health problems by focusing on the client's perceived body sensations.

The discussion aspect was focused on how we felt during the class, what tools we use to release tension in our everyday lives and different methods we can practice to be better allies to each other.
